Why We Are Your Best Choice For Restorative Dentistry in Yukon

When it comes to maintaining a healthy smile, preventive care is crucial. However, even with proper oral hygiene habits, our teeth can still experience wear and tear over time. This is where restorative dentistry comes in – helping to repair damaged or missing teeth and restore your smile back to its natural state.

Our restorative dentistry services focus on diagnosing and treating all your oral health issues, with the goal of restoring both function and aesthetics to your teeth. Whether you have a cavity, cracked tooth, missing tooth, or any other dental concern, we have the solutions to help get your smile back on track.

A Minimally Invasive Approach

Our dental practice leans towards minimal invasiveness. Basically, that means we opt not to overtreat. Instead, we inform patients about potential dental concerns; however, not all darkened areas in x-rays necessitate fillings. Oftentimes, dentists can cause more harm than good by over-drilling, instead of allowing some teeth to undergo natural re-mineralization or self-healing process. This notion aligns with the concept of the 'restorative cycle,' which implies that any tooth drilled into will likely need further work within a span of 5-7 years due to human-made materials deteriorating over time. Subsequently fillings might then in turn end up being larger, as the old filling needs to be extracted and fresh enamel has to be bonded. By monitoring the area before resorting to fillings, we sometimes observe that the tooth remineralizes naturally, effectively averting the commencement of the restorative cycle for that tooth.

When Restorative treatments are necessary, we discuss all the restorative options such as composite fillings, porcelain inlays or onlays, crowns, etc. Keep reading for more information about our restorative dentistry procedures and what to expect should you be a candidate for treatment.

Tooth Colored Fillings

When minor dental damage or tooth decay is present, we use tooth-colored fillings to restore the appearance of your smile.

Our dental filling procedure typically looks like this:

  1. First, our dentist will numb the area around the affected tooth with a local anesthetic to ensure you feel comfortable during the procedure.
  2. Next, any decay or damage will be removed from the tooth and it will be thoroughly cleaned to prepare for the filling.
The composite resin material will then be carefully placed in layers and hardened with a special light. This allows the filling to bond securely with your tooth.
  3. Once the filling is in place, our dentist will shape and polish it to match the surface of your tooth, giving it a beautiful, healthy and natural looking appearance.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is needed when the tooth structure is damaged due to trauma or decay. A dental crown is a fixed prosthetic device that fully covers the visible portion of the tooth and restores its shape, size, and strength while improving its appearance.
If we determine you are in need of a dental crown, your procedure will look like this:

  1. We will numb the affected area with local anesthesia to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
  2. Next, any decay or damaged portions of the tooth will be removed and shaped to fit the crown.
  3. Once the tooth is prepped, an impression of your tooth will be taken to create a custom-made dental crown.
  4. If you are not eligible for same day treatment due to other underlying dental issues, we will fashion a temporary crown to be placed over your prepared tooth.
  5. We will then schedule another appointment to remove the temporary crown and replace it with a permanent one.

Inlays & Overlays

For dental damage that is too severe for fillings but not advanced enough for a full dental crown, we may recommend an inlay or onlay as a more conservative solution. Inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are designed to fit within the cusps of a damaged tooth, providing strength and protection while preserving more of your natural tooth structure.
Our procedure for providing inlays and overlays is similar to that mentioned above for our tooth-colored fillings.

WOW! I have had a fear of the dentist since I was 7, crazy painful experience with a DoD dentist when we were stationed at Ft Knox (Army Brat). Doc John did a root canal, no pain, didn’t even realize he gave me novacain shots. INCREDIBLE! Didn’t even have to have nitrous. If you’re looking for a new dentist this cat is on his game. Ironically, he is a Navy veteran, lol.
THANKS DOC!

Full Mouth Reconstruction

For patients experiencing multiple dental and/or oral issues, a comprehensive treatment plan is often the most effective approach. This holistic strategy addresses all prevailing problems in a coordinated manner, rather than treating each issue in isolation. This generally includes a thorough examination of your oral health, detailed discussions about your dental goals, and crafting a personalized treatment roadmap that may include procedures such as dentures, dental implants or other restorative treatments. Our objective is to optimize your dental health while enhancing the aesthetics of your smile

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy, often simply referred to as a 'root canal', tends to have an undeserved reputation for being a painful procedure. However, with our advanced dental technology and revolutionary pain management techniques through sedation dentistry, you can expect your root canal at Redeemed Smiles to be a breeze with little to no pain. And, with our emergency dentistry services, we can get you in our doors and out of pain just as quickly as you give us a call.
