Dental Crowns
A dental crown is needed when the tooth structure is damaged due to trauma or decay. A dental crown is a fixed prosthetic device that fully covers the visible portion of the tooth and restores its shape, size, and strength while improving its appearance.
If we determine you are in need of a dental crown, your procedure will look like this:
- We will numb the affected area with local anesthesia or one of our other sedation dentistry techniques to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
- Next, any decay or damaged portions of the tooth will be removed and shaped to fit the crown.
- Once the tooth is prepped, an impression of your tooth will be taken to create a custom-made dental crown.
- If you are not eligible for same day treatment due to other underlying dental issues, we will fashion a temporary crown to be placed over your prepared tooth.
- We will then schedule another appointment to remove the temporary crown and replace it with a permanent one.
